It was a night to remember as the Marquette University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held its annual Blue & Golden Globes banquet, bringing together the best of university athletics under one roof.

Guests gathered at The Garage in downtown Milwaukee to witness the Ralph H. Metcalfe Senior Awards ceremony, which honored student-athletes for their outstanding achievements on the field, court, and in the classroom.

Awards Galore: Stevie Mitchell Shines

• Men’s basketball senior guard Stevie Mitchell
• Named 2024-25 BIG EAST Scholar Athlete of the Year
• College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American selection

Mitchell, a double major in Finance and Information Systems, was not only an outstanding athlete but also an exemplary academic student.

Talented Female Athletes Shine

• Women’s volleyball senior Yadhira Anchante
• First Team All-BIG EAST performer and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection
• One of three players in program history to record over 3,000 digs

Anchante’s impressive résumé earned her the Ralph H. Metcalfe Senior Female Athletic Award.

Paying It Forward: Leadership and Community Service

• Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for SAAC
• Represented the BIG EAST Conference on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group

Mitchell’s commitment to the university community extends beyond the sports field, as he has volunteered with various organizations, including SHARP Literacy, wheelchair basketball, and the Salvation Army.
