Celebrating the dedication of staff, volunteers, and fundraisers

The NHS trust has announced that it will be handing out awards to its dedicated staff, volunteers, and fundraisers at a ceremony to be held at Oxford Town Hall on Friday, June 6. The awards will be presented to individuals and teams who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and support. The trust has introduced the public to some of the finalists ahead of the event, giving them a glimpse into the outstanding work of the nominees.

  • Chris Caley, a cyber security analyst in the IT Infrastructure team
  • The voluntary services team, made up of more than 300 volunteers
  • Marie Bloxham, a nursing assistant on the Laburnham Ward at Horton General Hospital in Banbury

These nominees are in the running for prestigious awards that reflect their exceptional dedication and commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and support. The awards will be presented in several categories, including the Award for Compassion, the Award for Delivery, the Award for Excellence, and the Award for Respect.

  • The Award for Compassion is given to individuals who demonstrate unwavering compassion, ability to recognise individual needs, and dedication to seeing things from the patients’ perspective
  • The Award for Delivery is given to individuals who have demonstrated technical expertise, proactive approach, and commitment to fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness
  • The Award for Excellence is given to teams or individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and support
  • The Award for Respect is given to individuals who embody the values of kindness, dignity, and professionalism

Among the nominees is Julio Zaknic, a senior healthcare assistant in the Surgical Emergency Unit at John Radcliffe Hospital. He has been nominated for the Award for Compassion, and his nomination reads: “Julio Zaknic, who was nominated for his “unwavering compassion, ability to recognise individual needs, and dedication to seeing things from the patients’ perspective,” is in with a chance of winning the Award for Compassion. He said:

“I am truly honoured to be nominated for the Award for Compassion. This recognition reflects not only my dedication but also the incredible support and teamwork that surrounds me every day. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues and the entire team for fostering an environment where compassion is at the heart of everything we do. Knowing that my efforts make a difference in patients’ lives is the greatest reward of all.”

Similarly, Chris Caley, a cyber security analyst in the IT Infrastructure team, is a finalist for the Award for Delivery. His nomination reads: “Chris Caley has been nominated for his “technical expertise, proactive approach, and commitment to fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness”. He said:

“I am honoured to have been nominated for the Staff Recognition Award. Thank you to all colleagues across the organisation who have supported me in carrying out my role.”

The voluntary services team, made up of more than 300 volunteers, is nominated for the Award for Excellence. Bridget Daly, voluntary services manager, said: “I really appreciate this recognition – it means a lot to be acknowledged, and I’m lucky to work with such a supportive and dedicated team.”

Marie Bloxham, a nursing assistant on the Laburnham Ward at Horton General Hospital in Banbury, is nominated for the Award for Respect. Her nomination reads: “Marie Bloxham, a nursing assistant on the Laburnham Ward at Horton General Hospital in Banbury, is nominated for the Award for Respect. Her nomination reads: “Marie embodies everything this recognition stands for – treating both patients and colleagues with kindness, dignity, and unwavering professionalism. She takes the time to truly listen to her patients, ensuring that they feel heard and valued. She always puts patient dignity at the forefront, her positivity is contagious, and her work ethic inspires those around her to strive for excellence.”. Ms Bloxham added:

“The kind words of support mean a great deal to me, and I appreciate the confidence shown in my work. Being recognised among such hardworking colleagues is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continue striving for excellence in all that we do.”

The awards ceremony will take place at Oxford Town Hall on Friday, June 6. The trust hopes to celebrate the dedication and commitment of its staff, volunteers, and fundraisers, and to recognise the outstanding work of the nominees.
